Danish shuttler Christine Busch's injury update turned out to be a huge blow. After getting injured during Friday's match against India, medical scans confirmed the severity of the knee damage.
"Christine Busch, who was angry about her left knee in Friday's national match against India, has received the results of the scan on Tuesday, and that was unfortunately not good news," Badminton Denmark posted on Instagram.
"Christine has tore her ACL and is therefore expected to be out for a minimum of 12 months," the official update read.
"All of our thoughts are with Christine. It's a huge blow for her, so she's obviously really sad. So are we," said Director of Elite Sports at Badminton Denmark, Jens Meibom.
Before the injury, Busch achieved successes alongside Mads Vestergaard in mixed doubles and even reached the finals of the 2026 German Open. She also reached a ranking of No.18 in mixed doubles, which was her career high.
Her last match was at the 2026 Uber Cup event, against India’s PV Sindhu and Tanisha Crasto.

Busch and Alexandra won the first game with 21-19, but retired in the second with a score of 17-14 in favour of Sindhu-Crasto in a match of about 36 minutes.
This match was the last game of the tie, and India won this match, but Denmark won the overall tie 3-2. The win over India became pivotal.
China eventually defeated India 5-0, knocking them out of the tournament, and Denmark moved forward to the quarter-finals as one of the top teams of Group A.
