$23 Up for Grabs as National Badminton Authority Launches Unique Contest

Players usually walk in to the court with one thing in mind: to win. This does not change the fact that even they are allowed to show off their unique personalities on the court, not just with their expressions.

A new contest announced ahead of the All Ghana Badminton Open 2026 is turning heads for an unusual reason. The National Badminton Authority says there will be a prize for the "best-dressed participant."

The competition will reward style as much as it rewards skill. Organizers have set aside prizes for players who stand out with their fashion statements in the court. In the singles category, the best-dressed participants will receive 250 Ghanaian cedis. The prize rises to 500 cedis for doubles.

250 cedis roughly converts to 23 USD, and 500 is 64 USD, likewise. The amount isn't much, but it is at least something that, for the players, takes their minds off the immense pressure they have to play under and, for the audience, something fun to look forward to.

Officials of the All Ghana Badminton Open have said that this contest is a part of a broader push to gain more viewership and thus generate more revenue from the match broadcasts.

Players have been advised to "dress to impress" when they step onto the court.

Style meets Sport on the court of the All Ghana Open

Tournament officials say that the initiative is meant to encourage professionalism as well as spark creativity among the players. With television and online coverage, the Ghanaian badminton authority wants players to represent the sport with confidence and flair.

By introducing a fashion element, the authority hopes to create a colorful, lively, and vibrant ambience around the tournament.

The contest will run simultaneously with the tournament. Judges will be on the sidelines throughout the event before choosing winners for the singles as well as the doubles category.

The message for players getting ready to compete in the All Ghana Badminton Open Championships 2026 is clear: style can win prizes just as much as skill. With cameras watching every move, every play, and every dress, the court will double up as a runway.
