Thailand Open 2026: Three Withdrawals Confirmed Ahead of Tournament

Three major withdrawals have been confirmed ahead of the Thailand Open 2026, with one men’s singles player and two doubles pairs pulling out before the start of the competition.

The withdrawals involve several players who are currently ranked among the top names in international badminton.

China’s Li Shi Feng, Indonesia’s men’s doubles pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and China’s Jiang Zhenbang and Li Yijing have all withdrawn from the Thailand Open.

The withdrawals were confirmed through a post on X.

Li Shi Feng is currently ranked world No. 7 and has been a key part of China’s badminton setup over the last couple of years. He is one of the top men’s singles players on the international circuit.

The Chinese shuttler won the 2023 All England Open, one of the sport’s biggest tournaments, and also claimed gold in the men’s team event at the 2022 Asian Games.

The Indonesian duo of Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani is currently ranked world No. 7 in men’s doubles. The pair has made their mark on the international circuit with consistent performances in BWF tournaments.

Among their notable achievements are reaching the finals of several BWF World Tour events and defeating higher-ranked pairs in recent seasons.

The other withdrawal is the Chinese pair Jiang Zhenbang and Li Yijing, who have also competed regularly on the international circuit. The pair has represented China in multiple BWF events.

About the Thailand Open 2026

The Thailand Open 2026 is set to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 12 to May 17, 2026, at Nimibutr Stadium. It is part of the 2026 BWF World Tour and is classified as a Super 500 event, making it one of the higher-level tournaments on the tour.

The tournament features five categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Players from more than 20 countries have confirmed their participation, including China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Denmark, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and South Korea.

Players such as P. V. Sindhu, Akane Yamaguchi, Chen Yufei, Anders Antonsen, and Lakshya Sen have also confirmed their participation and are part of the main draw.

The tournament has been held regularly since 1984, making it one of the longest-running tournaments in the sport and an important part of the BWF World Tour each year.
