Tanisha Crasto and PV Sindhu kept India’s Uber Cup hopes alive. Following a gritty victory over Ukraine, Crasto credited the veteran star’s guidance for their chemistry on court.

After the win against Ukraine, Tanisha took to Instagram to thank PV Sindhu for helping her stay composed under pressure.

“She had my back, I had the finish. I’m truly delighted to have contributed a point for our team today against Ukraine, proud of the effort, teamwork, and the spirit we brought onto the court!" wrote Tanisha.

However, she also acknowledged that this was only a stepping stone win in the Uber Cup. "The work continues…” she added in her caption.

Although not as experienced as Sindhu, Tanisha has played doubles badminton at the highest level. In the mixed doubles, alongside Dhruv Kapila, she reached World No. 16 in May 2025, which has been her all-time high.

The 22-year-old also represented India at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics in women’s doubles with partner Ashwini Ponnappa.

In fact, she was also a member of India’s title-winning women's squad at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships in Selangor, Malaysia.

Tanisha Crasto and PV Sindhu are gearing up for a tougher test

As India is set in a tie with Group A in the Uber Cup event, Tanisha Crasto and PV Sindhu played against Ukraine’s Sofia Lavrova and Mariia Stoliarenko. And the Indian pair ended up winning in straight games,  21-18, 21-15, in a 32-minute match.

The Ukrainian pair, Lavrova-Stoliarenko, were ranked No.458 in the BWF women’s doubles ranking as of April 2026. They are still a developing pair, with limited experience, as they have only played in lower-tier BWF tournaments up to now.

However, the duo is now set to play against China in their final tie on 27 April 2026. This is expected to be India's toughest match, given China’s highly competitive lineup.

Besides being the defending champions, China has also won 16 Uber Cups. Do you think they can beat China and make it to the quarterfinals? Share your thoughts in the comments.
