Raymond Indra & Nikolaus Joaquin Faced Swiss Open Blow After All England Open Disappointment

Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin, Indonesia’s rising badminton duo, suffered an early setback at the Swiss Open 2026. They are now out of the tournament after losing in the first round.
But once again, the pair has now faced another heartbreak after a recent semifinal loss at the All England Open 2026. They entered the Swiss Open with high expectations but were unable to play their best in the Round of 32.
The young Indonesian pair lost the semifinal of the All England against South Korea’s pair, KIM Won Ho and SEO Seung Jae. They were hoping to bounce back in the Swiss Open.
But the Chinese Taipei pair, Chen Cheng Kuan and Lin Bing-Wei, seem to be too good for the young duo. They lost two straight sets against Taiwan’s pair, by 21-17 and 21-17. The Round of 32 game lasted just 36 minutes before another heartbreak.
Indra and Joaquin had earlier captured the attention of badminton fans with their remarkable run at the All England Open 2026.
In the quarterfinals, they produced a commanding performance to defeat China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in straight games, securing a spot in the last four of the tournament.
In the semifinal, Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin were up against the world’s No. 1 pair, China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. They lost two straight games by 21-19 and 21-13, which ended their All England’s campaign.
Swiss Open Exit Adds to Frustration for Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin
Although Raymond Indra and Nikolaus lost the semis, they have played some really good badminton in the quarterfinal of the All England 2026.
They defeated China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in straight games by 21-18 and 21-12.
Following the semifinal disappointment in Birmingham, Indra and Joaquin traveled to Switzerland, hoping to bounce back quickly. But the turnaround between tournaments proved challenging.
Playing back-to-back tournaments against top-ranked opponents can test both physical endurance and mental resilience.
With more experience on the Badminton World Federation circuit, the Indonesian duo is expected to continue improving and could become key contenders for their country in upcoming tournaments and team events later this season.
