PV Sindhu has a soft spot for Singapore. The Indian badminton star recently shared a heartfelt note on social media. She called the country her "closest place to home."

"Singapore, you raised my husband in so many beautiful ways, and gave me memories on court, love from the stands, and moments I will always smile about," Sindhu wrote on Twitter. She also added, "India is home. Always and forever. But Singapore, you are the closest thing to it."

The connection runs deep for her. Singapore is where her husband, Venkata Datta Sai, grew up. It is also where she won her first Super 500 title back in 2022 at the Singapore Open.

The couple visits the country often. They have a favorite spot too, the Sin Hoi Sai Eating House in Katong. Her husband has called it a "second home" for over 15 years.

On the court, Sindhu has been in fine form at the 2026 Singapore Open. She booked her place in the quarterfinals with two strong wins. The double Olympic medalist looks sharp and focused.

In the Round of 32, she beat 5th seed Putri Kusuma Wardani 21-17, 21-18. She trailed early in the opening game but fought back well. It was sweet revenge for her 2025 World Championship loss to the same opponent.

Her Round of 16 match was even more one-sided. Sindhu crushed Riko Gunji 21-9, 21-12 in just 37 minutes. She controlled the pace and placement throughout the match.

Now comes the toughest test. Sindhu faces World No. 1 An Se-young in the quarterfinals. The Korean star holds an 8-0 head-to-head record against her, so this will be a steep mountain to climb.

Who is PV Sindhu's Husband?

PV Sindhu is married to Venkata Datta Sai. He is an IT entrepreneur and executive director at Posidex Technologies, a data mining and tech company. He has also worked with an IPL team in the past.

Sai was born in Hyderabad, just like Sindhu. But he spent his school years in Singapore. He studied at the Overseas Family School there.

His education list is impressive. He holds a BBA in Accounting and Finance from Flame University. He also has a master's degree in Data Science and Machine Learning from IIIT Bangalore.

The love story is a sweet one. Sindhu and Sai knew each other for years before things got serious. They reconnected on a flight in October 2022, and that is when it all began.

The wedding was a grand affair. The couple tied the knot in a traditional Telugu ceremony in Udaipur on December 22, 2024. It was a multi-day celebration with close family and friends.
