The Denmark Open badminton tournament will start on Tuesday (October 13) and is scheduled to be held at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, Denmark, from October 13 to 18. The BWF World Tour Super 750 event, with a prize pool of $950,000, kicks off on October 13 and will also witness India’s P.V. Sindhu go up against world number one An Se-young in the women’s singles.

Top Seeds and Global Stars to Watch

Newly crowned Asian Games champions Kunlavut Vitidsarn and An Se-young will be in action at the Denmark Open 2026.

The Denmark Open will serve as a big platform to earn crucial points in the ongoing season. It will be a part of the European swing on the BWF World Tour calendar that picks up soon after the Asian Games.

The 2026 edition of the Denmark Open will witness action-packed encounters. In women’s singles, reigning Asian Games champion and World Championships gold medallist, South Korea’s An Se-young, will be the favourite to go all the way. She has had a stellar run so far this year.

Indian Contingent Faces Tough Opening Draws

In the Indian contingent, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will look for her maiden win over Se-young when the two go up against each other in the first round of the women’s singles event. Tanvi Sharma, Ashmita Chaliha, Devika Sihag, and Unnati Hooda are the other members of India's contingent in the women’s singles event.

In the men’s singles, India’s Lakshya Sen, the country’s lone semifinalist in the event at the Paris 2024 edition, will go up against the third-seeded and experienced Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the first round. Also, Denmark Open winner Kidambi Srikanth and Ayush Shetty will be representing the country in Odense, Denmark, where the former had lifted the title in 2017.

After their disappointing showing at the Asian Games, where they bowed out early on, fifth seeds Rankireddy-Chirag will aim to bounce back when they meet He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu (China) in the first round of men’s doubles. In the women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand will be spearheading the Indian contingent.
