Big Update Emerges on Teo Ee Yi’s Retirement Talks

The 32-year-old Malaysian doubles player, Teo Ee Yi, has garnered significant attention in the past few days, sparking speculation among fans about his potential retirement.
Still, he quickly shut down these rumors when he officially signed up with a homegrown sports brand called “Felet.” Prior to this sponsorship, Ee Yi had thanked his former sponsorship brand Li-Ning officially marking an end to their collaboration on social media.
This post was what started the retirement speculation among people, whether he was stepping away from badminton; however, the new deal with Felet says otherwise and Teo himself confirmed this.
Teo provided a clear clarification, stating that retirement is not under consideration. “I remain committed to pursuing my aspirations in the sport and continue to value the competitive experience on court. This transition represents solely a change in sponsorship and does not affect my professional trajectory or competitive objectives,” he said.
As too many players in the sport usually slow down at Ee Yi’s age, it’s only natural to assume, but he stays determined and motivated to continue his time on court.
But, this isn't the only partnership ending with Ee Yi...
Speculations of Split Between Ee Yi And His Partner Ong Yew Sin
With so many things going on for Ee Yi, it has also drawn attention on his partnership with Ong Yew Sin, even though the duo keeps delivering strong performances on stage. It arised when Ee Yi had signed an individual deal with Felet, hinting that the duo might be headed to different directions.
There is no official announcement about it, fans have quickly turnt to possible new combinations, Ee Yi could be paired with Chia Weijie, he’s currently training with the independent squad in Sri Petaling. And the other possible players in the independent squad are Jimmy Wong, Low Hang Yee and Ng Eng Cheong.
Although Ee Yi-Yew Sin were partners for more than a decade since 2015, they have struggled with their form since last year, often exiting their matches early and Ee Yi too had been struggling with a series of injuries.
For now, with no hints or confirmation from Ee-Yi himself, we do not know if he’d continue with Yew Sin or partner up with someone new, but one thing we know for sure is, he’s far from retiring and his jounery with the sport is not over yet.
