Following a tough exit from the Badminton Asia Championships, P.V. Sindhu has a new focus. The two-time Olympic medallist shared her preparation plan for the upcoming Asian Games, highlighting the need to remain injury-free during a packed season.

"The preparation is going well. It is a busy year. We have back-to-back tournaments. So it is important to stay injury-free," Sindhu says, talking about her plans for the 2026 Asia Games

The 30-year-old player stays optimistic despite the loss, as she now focuses on the next challenge. The preparation for the Asian Games will require Sindhu to identify her errors at the BAC 2026 tournament and work on them.

A user on X shared a video of P. V. Sindhu speaking about her Asian Games 2026 preparations and reflecting on her loss at the BAC 2026.

Sindhu rose to an all-time career-high ranking of World No. 2 in April 2017 and is the first and only Indian to become a badminton world champion; she too is one of the key contenders. Considering the heavy competition at the Asian Games, we can expect all the top seeds across Asia to be competing there

What Actually Happened at the BAC 2026

Sindhu’s campaign at the BAC  this year ended at the round of 16, losing to the Chinese player Wang Zhi Yi, ranked world No.2, with a score of 18-21,8-21.

This loss is heavy on the Indian audience, considering that Wang Zhiyi was proven to be almost too strong for Sindhu, especially after the aggressive play in the second game.

Wang was born on 29th April 2000 and is also a two time asia champion, winning the title in 2022 and 2024. The Chinese player has always been in her best form and just reached the world No.2 rank in November 2024.

Earlier, Sindhu passed to the second round after defeating Malaysia’s shuttler, Wong Ling Ching, in a three-game match. Despite a setback like this, Sindhu stays strong and focuses on her long-term goals, going on with the preparation for the Asian Games, this year’s most significant multisport tournament.
